Dear Cathi,
On behalf of our Board of Directors and the entire staff at Women’s eNews, congratulations on being named one of the 21 Leaders for the 21st Century 2009. We are thrilled to be able to publicly celebrate your accomplishments in May.
I hope to be out to Seattle before the event and have a chance to get to know you a bit. Your work sounds so wonderful and I am deeply grateful that you have undertaken it because if not you—who?
Just to let you know, the gala will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Jumeirah Essex House, located at 160 Central Park South (between Sixth and Seventh avenues) in New York City. The event begins at 6 p.m. but you should plan to be there at the latest at 4:30 p.m. To gain a sense of this event, please visit our website and review our virtual 21 Leaders for the 21st Century 2008 Gala.
We expect to create a once-in-a-lifetime event for you and I am so delighted that I will be able to honor your work. The May 7 event marks the eighth 21 Leaders for the 21st Century fund-raising gala to benefit Women’s eNews. We hope that many of your friends and business colleagues will celebrate your commitment to improving the lives of women and girls around the world by purchasing tickets, buying tables or sponsoring portions of the event. A solicitation package is currently being developed and Gala Save-The-Date cards will be sent out in the next month. Jaclyn Duran and Karen Stevens, our in-house gala coordinators, will facilitate the mailings of these materials.
I and members of the event team will also be in touch with you before the end of January about the creation of a benefit committee and other details. We look forward to speaking with you and will welcome your suggestions of individuals and corporations that may want to honor you with their support.
As the definitive source of substantive news – not available anywhere else – covering issues of particular concern to women and providing women’s perspectives on public policy, Women’s eNews enhances every day women’s ability to define their own lives and to participate fully in every sector of human endeavor. We look forward to many more years of providing women, and the men who care about women, the news they need to know and to honoring individuals like you who make a significant difference in the world.
Congratulations again and we thank you for all you have done and continue to do to improve the lives of women. Please feel free to call me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Rita Henley Jensen
