Innovation, Education, and Leadership in Africa: Building Blocks for Development
September 23rd, the World Affairs Council will be hosting an event at the University of Washington featuring Ashesi University leadership and two women alumni from Ghana, titled, “Innovation, Education, and Leadership in Africa.” The event is part of the World Affairs Council’s Africa Connected Series, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates FoundationBill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
IGNITE has a special connection with Ghana through our IGNITE chapter there, so we are particularly interested in the two women panelists from Ghana, one of whom has a degree in Business Administration and the other of whom has a degree in Computer Science.
The event will be held in Kane Hall at the University of Washington on the evening of Thursday, September 23. The event organizers anticipate an audience of 240 guests representing a cross-section of our region’s business, government, academic, and community leaders, as well as a wide variety of globally-minded people who share a passion for world affairs. In addition, with support from sponsors, organizers are specifically inviting local teachers and students to join them for this event. It is the hope that the event will be webcast live and on-demand in order to broaden the conversation.
We are looking for one of our professional members to serve as the face of IGNITE at this high profile event. Please consider volunteering to network and represent IGNITE. Email us if you are interested in getting more involved with the event.
