HI All,

We have a new component this year that we have just added to IGNITE. For many years now, I was hoping to set up more meetings with the girls, to get to know them better and just talk. We started that this past week with the young women from West Seattle HS. We had a great turnout with 19 girls attending their lunch time period.

I ordered Pizza and sat down with them to introduce myself and Lilna Givan-Williams, our Work Based Learning Coordinator for IGNITE. It was a great meeting. We got to go around and hear a bit about what the girls wanted to go into for their careers. As it turns out many of them are not sure. Perfect. So we have lots of opportunity to help them learn about these wonderful and interesting careers. They were all excited about meeting more and talking more. Lilna will also be getting them school credit for their time in IGNITE. Our next meeting with these girls is December 4, From 10:40-11:15.

I want to thank the wonderful staff from West Seattle HS, in providing us the support and encouragement to do IGNITE at West Seattle, Thank you to Pamela Phillips, Career Center Specialist, and welcome to IGNITE. Pamela is an inspiring person and I am so thrilled to get to work with her and have to thank her for her support and help in advertising and helping me do more events at WS. Thank you to the wonderful Martha Tonkin, Marketing teacher and many other talents,. I was invited to her class to speak to her students about ignite and invite them to join. Martha has been a long time supporter of IGNITE, and such a pleasure to work with her!!Thank you to School Counselor Marcia Berenter, who has expressed her enthusiasm for IGNITE and her interest in helping us at WS. Thank you Marcia and welcome to IGNITE!! Thank you to Johnthan Knapp, Auto Technology Program, and his interest and excitement for IGNITE. Thank you to Adria Sneed, Student Services Specialist, for her interest in helping ignite too. This is great to have this wonderful support at West Seattle HS. It will certainly help the young women be successful in the program.

I would love to get some sign ups from you to come along and get a more intimate experience with the young women in ignite. More of a discussion and interactive event. We are still scheduled to do all the activities that all the high schools participate in, we are just adding this component to get to know the girls better and get more interaction.
