HI All,

We had a fantastic presentation yesterday at Garfield HS. The presenters did a spectacular job in connecting with the young women who attended. It was a great experience.

I want to thank our wonderful guests, Delanda Syndey (Marketing - Microsoft), Marta Smith (Software Testing, Program Manager - Microsoft), and Amy Beth Meier (Solutions Marketing Manager - Avanade Inc). You all did such a great job with the girls. It was wonderful to hear your stories and hear the way you so were so caring in your responses to the young women's questions. It was a special event with great exchanges of ideas and information. Thank you !!

Thank you to the wonderful IGNITE partners at Garfield HS! Welcome to a new IGNITE partner, Science teacher Jessica Jackett. It was great to meet you and thank you for your hard work and excitement about IGNITE. Thank you to the wonderful Karin Engstrom, Career Center Specialist, who is a long time IGNITE partner and provides her unwavering commitment to IGNITE. THANK YOU!!

Here are the comments from the girl's evaluation forms. They clearly loved this event.

• The enthusiasm and knowledge that every guest speaker brought to the meeting was the best. I learned that women in this field have different types of degrees.
• I liked this event because all of the visitors deeply explained what they did, who they were, and how they go to be where they are today. They told us the challenges they had to face. I learned today that you learn more when you are really interested. Everything was great.
• The speakers were well prepared and kept me aware of the technology available. I liked hearing about the X-Box.
• I liked the guest speakers. It gives me a personal view of what the technology field is like. The personal stories were very interesting.
• I liked hearing about the flexibility of technical careers. I liked hearing about all the variety of technical careers. I would like to attend more IGNITE events.
• I liked the fact that the speakers were so open and how they wanted us to understand what was said. I want to know all the information about IGNITE.
• I liked the stories the ladies told because I found that in a way I relate to them and that got me thinking about whether their career would fit me, or whether I will enjoy doing it if I decide to pursue it.
• I always thought that when you get into tech careers you are always on the computer, but its not true because you do different activities surrounding tech. I want to get my hands on what kind of stuff people in tech careers do.
• I liked the guest speakers and everything.
• I really liked the video, it was really descriptive about the program, I really liked that lunch was provided. I learned that 8 in 10 jobs have technology involved and that you should never settle for less just because its not the norm. I also learned that you can work abroad for Microsoft.
• I liked the video and the guest speakers. I learned about the different types of jobs women can have.
• I liked about how in Business there is a flexibility in your work schedule.
• I learned that I can pursue a job position at Microsoft and work abroad. I liked hearing that you don't have to have a 4.0 or a certain degree to get a good job at Microsoft, there are a lot of different types of jobs.
• I liked what the guest speakers had to say. It was nice to hear someone tell us about their own experiences with technology, rather than hear it from someone else without any experience of their own. I thought it was interesting to hear about how each person got to where they are now, like what jobs and classes they took to get where they are.
• The speakers were good. They told us about what kinds of jobs they have. How long it took them to get where they are today. I liked hearing that sometimes they got to work from home, in technology it is possible.
• I liked hearing about different opportunities in IGNITE, and the summer camp and internships.
• I enjoyed the event today. I liked the video it was briefly descriptive.
• The most interesting thing I heard was the speakers describing what she does now in Marketing. I liked hearing how she thought about where it should be selling, to broaden the market, what colors, and all that, it was interesting to hear that.
• I liked the fact that this opportunity was for girls. I learned more about IGNITE and what you have to offer.
• I loved hearing the guest speakers. I look forward to the field trip.
• I liked the guest speakers because they helped me understand more about different jobs in high tech.
• I liked how they were talking about their jobs and their challenges. I would like to learn more.
