Hi All,

We had a wonderful Presentation event at South Lake Alternative HS It was all the young women in South Lake attending this event. They are such a fantastic group of young women, They asked great questions and some girls stayed after to tell us how much this presentation meant to them. It was an inspiring event.

I want to thank Nora Duffy, Intellectual Property, Avanade Inc, who really make such an impact in this session with the girls. Nora really made that special connection and the girls really heard her. She inspired, she listened, she is there for the girls. Thank you Nora for your unwavering support of the young women in IGNITE! Thank you to Sue Carmony,Director in IT, Microsoft and welcome to IGNITE. Your first time was great and you really care about getting the girls interested and excited about all that high tech has to offer.Thank you ! Thank you to Julia Fallon, IT in Education, OSPI, which stands for Washington State Dept of Education. Julia gives the girls the heart of the matter, never give up and never let anyone tell you no, or you can't do it, you go girl! Julia is a high tech woman who has chosen to be in education so that students get the best technology education they can, and she is committed to that vision for the State of Washington. Thank you to Gina Nakamura, Outreach Coordinator, Seattle Central Community College. Gina gave all the girls a wonderful packet of information about SCCC and all about the upcoming IGNITE Conference this spring at SCCC. Thank you Gina for being there for the girls and being in IGNITE. It is so wonderful to work with you.

Barbara is such an amazing person and such a wonderful Principal, I could go on all day. If you meet her you will know. Thank you to Carol Johnson, School Counselor South Lake HS, and for your unwavering support of all we do., It is so great to have you in IGNITE.

Now to the comments from the girls evaluation sheets.

  • The best thing I like best is how the way they were talking about technical things and more. Also how the guests talked about their life. I thought what I saw was very good.
  • How we had our questions answered and we were heard and knowing that we can have a messed up background and it won't take us down in our salary. I learned about the girls camp at Microsoft.
  • I want to visit the house of the future. I learned about the amount of pay they get.
  • That it changed my mind about what I want to do after high school. They need more females in technology. Have the females who are not interested stay in class.
  • I was excited about hearing about the 5 day camp. The annual salary that you receive and the expertise that we will learn about computers.
  • What I liked about today's event was that how the ladies came up and encouraged me to focus on my college. Also, was how people change their life. I want help to go to college.
  • I liked how they were thorough through their questions. Plus they talked about what high tech careers help you with and benefits with learning experiences. The most interesting thing I learned was about what sort of technology they used. I would love to have ignite teach us more about technology.
  • The Q and A and the information that followed afterwards was the best part. That I can do an internship for designing my own programs and software was exciting.
  • How much stuff we learned about MIcrosoft and IGNITE was great. House of the Future and Office of the Future is interesting and I look forward to that.
  • Learning about women who followed their dreams to become a better person was the best part.
  • I liked how all the ladies told us about how they got to where they are today. The most interesting thing was about the IGNITE program.

WE didn't get all the girls to do surveys because of all the bells going off and shortened school day.. Long story.

Thank you all for making this possible, it was great.
Cathi
