Hi All
We had a fabulous Presentation event at Roosevelt HS. Wow, what a turnout!! The girls just kept streaming in! Thank you to the wonderful Dept Head of Business and Marketing at Roosevelt HS, Liz MacLennan. She does an amazing job getting the girls excited about the events and excited about IGNITE. We have been IGNITE partners going on 8 years and it just gets better and better. I could not do it without Liz! Thank you so much Liz for all of your dedication and hard work and most of all your belief in what we do! That really comes across to the students, when you believe in the work!! You are the best.
I want to thank our wonderful presenters!! Martine Worrall, Mechanical Engineer, Synapse Product Development, and Linda Thomas, Safety Engineer, Boeing and Governor of Society of Women Engineers for the Pacific Northwest. You made an awesome team yesterday, so many different experiences and stories for the girls to hear. You really covered all the different types of Engineering too. You both are so outstanding and dedicated IGNITE members. WE appreciate you so much. And you make it fun too. I don't know how many times I have heard you both present and its always so exciting to hear your stories again. Great job!
I want to thank the team of teachers at Roosevelt who came to the event to tell the girls all about the course offerings at their school. The wonderful Karl Ruff, Project Lead the Way, PLTW.org It is a pre-engineering program and Karl does such a wonderful job in making it exciting for young women to want to learn more about these careers. Thank you to Dan Norton-Middaugh, web design among many other important courses, and he too recruits and retains young women because of his passion towards young women's education in technology. You are both extraordinary teachers and we are so fortunate to have you !! Thank you to Nicole Samuels, a new teacher who joined the team as an intern, and is now teaching Marketing education, thank you for joining us at the event. WE look forward to working with you more..
