MISSION: To Inspire Girls to Consider High-Tech as a Positive Career Choice
IGNITE has been steadily building a success story in Seattle, exposing teenage girls to the high-tech industry.
Did You Know . . .
- 45% of the US workforce are women, but they only hold 12% of science and engineering jobs,
- Only 20% of Information Technology professionals are women.
What We Do
- Our goal is transform every middle school, high school, and college in the United States and around the world into an IGNITE member school.
- In Washington, IGNITE works closely with Seattle Schools, encouraging high school girls to consider careers in technology.
- We do presentations at schools, field trips to local companies, job shadows, conferences, and many other events to connect high tech women mentors with young women.
- Provide students with information on scholarships, internships, and community resources to help them succeed in the fields of engineering and technology.
Who We Are
- We're a group of diverse women in the Seattle area, who have come together to volunteer for girls.
- We're: multimedia producers, system support analysts, network engineers, etc who care about empowering teenage girls to succeed in what has been predominately a man's field.
