A fundraiser walk for IGNITE! Empowering young women to succeed in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) careers and inspiring girls to dream big to achieve their full potential.

All students participating in the walk will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes!

Empowering Young Women!

The United States is experiencing a shortage of students interested in STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.) And women represent only 15% of the technology workforce, down from a high of 35% in 1980. This is because many girls have not met or known women in a technology field and face societal pressures to pursue more traditionally female careers. Popular culture has painted the stereotype of technology as a competitive, solitary, masculine career choice which is keeping girls away from STEM.

Meanwhile STEM fields are increasingly shaping all aspects of our lives – from biotechnology, to online social networks, to alternative forms of energy. By excluding themselves from participation in these fields, young women are staying away from higher-wage earning jobs, as well as from taking a leadership role in how technology is used to create our world. When you join this Walk, you are taking a stand for a brighter future, where women participate equally with men and have a say in how technology can improve the lives of people everywhere around the globe.

Snacks and water will be provided at the event.

The Walk

• 1. Register!
  To join the Walk, please register as a participant via Eventbrite. This also allows us to plan properly for the event and we will have your name badge ready when you arrive on the day of the Walk.
• 2. Download your Pledge Packet!
  This packet includes a flyer you can share with others, Fundraising Tips to help you know how to talk to friends and family about sponsoring you for the Brighter Future walk, and also a pledge sheet where you will track all donations.
• 3. Start Fundraising!
  Spread the word and ask friends and family to sponsor you. Ask for checks or send a link to this website to those wanting to donate online. Bring all checks with you to the Walk, they will be collected at the Registration Table. Even the smallest contribution makes a difference and you get to take part in CREATING A BRIGHTER FUTURE for our world.

Want to help but can't participate in the event? You can still make a donation that will help IGNITE continue to inspire girls in technology.

You can also donate on behalf of a participant. Just include their name with your donation and we will make sure your walker receives credit.
